Last year I programmed the flash and templates for proscenium.ca. The design came from the Print world and required things like anti alias fonts and custom fonts… things only achievable with Flash. The budget was small, however Proscenium had Jordan on staff who was a Jr. web developer, someone I could train easily.

Papervision 3D is an amazing piece of flash 3d rendering software with very high rendering speeds. Version 2.0, code name ‘Great White’, is under development with public SVN releases. This means that it is NOT complete and things may change without notice. This also means that there is no support or documentation on this release. The only resources you have are reading the libraries themselves and viewing the source of highly skilled developers, like mr.doob, who release their source online. (Model all your applications around what these developers release.)

Many people seem to over complicate things, and this is no exception with css. If you use the KISS theory, css is not only simple and fun, but cross-browser compatible! I am talking about managing your blocks, stopping tables and controlling the flow of your information. This is designing with CSS! The secrets are “position: relative;”, “float: left;”, “width:300px;”, “overflow: hidden;” when applied to a div or a span tag.

This tutorial is designed to show you how to have one of the many XML driven Flash mp3 players to list the songs uploaded to your CMS website. This example uses the Joomla CMS with the User Home Pages 2 component used to upload thet .mp3 files to user pages. A live example can be found at the bottom of the left menu on Smart-Love.ca.

This week I was asked to fix the default RSS output in WordPress. I soon found out all I needed were two XML plugins and to use RSS2 or atom feeds to force the full text of the article and removes any content:encoded tags. The default RSS only displays a summary of the article with no images.
